World Mastercard Fashion Week: Day 1

Hey everyone, it's been a week since the first show at World Mastercard Fashion Week (WMCFW) here in Toronto. For those of you who are not familiar with fashion week, WMCFW happens twice a year (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter) and it is a chance for Canadian designers to showcase their  collections throughout the span of 5 days. For the general public you can say it is a chance to dress up, look pretty and see upcoming trends. For bloggers and other people in the industry, it is a chance to network, critic and get your hands on the latest fashion news.

Last week local designers showcased their Fall/Winter 2015 collection at David Pecaut Square. The runway shows started around 4 or 5pm each day and ran every hour till 9pm. I saw a total of 14 collections throughout the week with Sid Neigum, Melissa Nepton, Mackage, and Mikael D being my favourite.

Sid Neigum named the winner of the Mercedes-Benz start up showed his collection on Day 1 and I felt in love. His collection featured beautifully crafted white and black pieces with high collars and textured material. Each piece was as stunning and eye catching as the next. You can find more info on his collection here

Day 1 in Toronto was pretty chilly as we were expecting lower than average temperatures. Pretty much every outfit that I planned to wear to fashion week had to be reconsidered. I decided to start fashion week strong by playing with layers. Monday was the coldest day of the week and the art of layering coats helped keep me warm. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week and don't forget to check back for more info on the other shows.
